Photo Hunting : “Model Hunting Photo Session”

Greetings to you all!

Last month, April 27th 2008 to be exact, I was attending : “Model Hunting Photo Session” in 2 islands n’ 3 models, which organized by Domino Talent Agency. The location was at the Onrust n’ Cipir/Kayangan island, but the agency surprised us with adding Kelor island also for our photo hunting destination.

The models, Anneu, Rini, n’ Sandra, was pretty n’ attractive. They’re quite professional.

The meeting point was Kapuk Kamal harbour, many of the hunters I known are from Fotografer.net community. We departed at 9 am to the 1st destination, Onrust island. The weather was clear n’ friendly all day and the sea was calm.

In this event, Mr. Djoni Komaruddin, a senior photographer, came along with us. He shared some of his experience with us. My buddy, Henrico or Ico or Mr. Bean, emerged as the event star! He became so popular then because of his acts n’ comments, that humor also pissed other hunters. They gave him new nicknames such Mr. Superstar [oh, I gave him this nickname, tee hee…], Mr. Bocor, Mr. Green Leak, etc. He became the new FN idol from then.

And because we got 3 islands as our destinations, we come up docking in Kamal again very late than the schedule. That’s okay, because :

It was really FUN n’ EXCITING!!! :D

You can see the field report of the event, simply just click this link.

Big thank yous to : God Almighty for His bless, Domino Talent, the models, and other photo hunters.

Quotes from famous...

"Optic psikologi merupakan dimana fotografer kerap membuat frame terlebih dahulu di dalam kepalanya sebelum dia benar-benar membidik.

Seharusnya fotografer bisa ikut mengalir saja bersama objek fotonya, menangkap emosi yang ada, dan yang lebih penting lagi adalah melibatkan dirinya ke dalam tema-tema fotonya".

TOTO live in Bandung !

Last Friday, March 14th 2008, I saw TOTO : Falling In Between live in Sabuga, Bandung. I got the chance to see their concert thanks to my cousin, Seno.

We arrived around 7 pm and the crowds already gathered there, boy, talking ‘bout lotsa people. But they’re queuing in order, so no problem. Most of their age are 30 something (you know when Toto emerged around for the first time, right?). Maybe this could happen ‘coz they’re all grown ups, not teenagers. Also I saw a family brought their children attending the concerts. Hmm… maybe it’s because a long weekend. Lotsa their fans came from Jakarta too, I can see by their cars plate. The weather was cool. Toto came in a bus around 8 pm. And finally the gates open around 8.30 pm. I brought my gear so I could take pictures. Unfortunately it said in the ticket : ”NO PROFESSIONAL CAMERA & VIDEO”, DANG!!! So when the security checked my bag, they found the camera. I gotta put my gear back in the car, “GRMBLGRMBLGRMBLXXX!!!”.

The concert started at 9 pm and ended about 2 hours later. Never a boring time when I saw their performance, for sure. The crowds was okay too. I saw Hedy Yunus [Kahitna] and Inneke Koesherawaty among the audience. The stage was simple but the lighting was good.

The crowds gone mad when finally TOTO opened their performance. They’re so awesome! Even in their golden age they still have their touch. Steve Lukather & Bobby Kimball’s voice quality still in their best shape, not decreasing at all. Simon Phillips’ power still incredible behind his drums. Whoa! Mike Porcaro couldn’t play then because his hand/fingers was injured. So he was replaced by Leland Sklar, he’s a bass player from Phil Collins’ band, the one with glasses and long beard, he’s quite familiar though.

They were playing songs from their latest album “Falling In Between” and their old hits such as ‘Stop Loving You’, ‘Rosanna’, ‘Anna’, ‘99’, etc. In the middle of their concert, they’re jamming. So f**kin’ cool !!! They closed the concert playing ‘Africa’. And one by one they fall back into the backstage.

It’s one of the best concert I've ever attended.

Viva TOTO !!!

Still Life Photography

Still life photography is the depiction of inanimate subject matter, most typically a small grouping of objects that are either human-made or "natural." Still life photography, more so than other types of photography, such as landscape or portraiture, gives the photographer more leeway in the arrangement of design elements within a composition.

Still life photography is a demanding art, one in which the photographers are expected to be able to form their work with a refined sense of lighting, coupled with compositional skills. The still life photographer makes pictures rather than takes them. Knowing where to look for propping and surfaces also is a required skill.

In addition to knowing the fundamentals of photography, still life photographers have studio-lighting skills and the ability to use large-format view cameras.

"New Model No. 15"

I'm as fake as a wedding cake
and I'm vague and I know that
I'm homopolitan
pitifully predictable
correctly political

I'm the new, I'm the new, new model
I've got noting inside
Better in the head and in bed
at the office
I can suck and I smile
New, new, New Model

I can choke and diet on coke
I'm spun and I know
that I'm stoned and rolling

Lifelike and poseable
Hopeless and disposable

Don't let them know how far you go
or that you use your "lovers"
oh look, you're like a VCR
stick something in to know
just who you are you
