TOTO live in Bandung !

Last Friday, March 14th 2008, I saw TOTO : Falling In Between live in Sabuga, Bandung. I got the chance to see their concert thanks to my cousin, Seno.

We arrived around 7 pm and the crowds already gathered there, boy, talking ‘bout lotsa people. But they’re queuing in order, so no problem. Most of their age are 30 something (you know when Toto emerged around for the first time, right?). Maybe this could happen ‘coz they’re all grown ups, not teenagers. Also I saw a family brought their children attending the concerts. Hmm… maybe it’s because a long weekend. Lotsa their fans came from Jakarta too, I can see by their cars plate. The weather was cool. Toto came in a bus around 8 pm. And finally the gates open around 8.30 pm. I brought my gear so I could take pictures. Unfortunately it said in the ticket : ”NO PROFESSIONAL CAMERA & VIDEO”, DANG!!! So when the security checked my bag, they found the camera. I gotta put my gear back in the car, “GRMBLGRMBLGRMBLXXX!!!”.

The concert started at 9 pm and ended about 2 hours later. Never a boring time when I saw their performance, for sure. The crowds was okay too. I saw Hedy Yunus [Kahitna] and Inneke Koesherawaty among the audience. The stage was simple but the lighting was good.

The crowds gone mad when finally TOTO opened their performance. They’re so awesome! Even in their golden age they still have their touch. Steve Lukather & Bobby Kimball’s voice quality still in their best shape, not decreasing at all. Simon Phillips’ power still incredible behind his drums. Whoa! Mike Porcaro couldn’t play then because his hand/fingers was injured. So he was replaced by Leland Sklar, he’s a bass player from Phil Collins’ band, the one with glasses and long beard, he’s quite familiar though.

They were playing songs from their latest album “Falling In Between” and their old hits such as ‘Stop Loving You’, ‘Rosanna’, ‘Anna’, ‘99’, etc. In the middle of their concert, they’re jamming. So f**kin’ cool !!! They closed the concert playing ‘Africa’. And one by one they fall back into the backstage.

It’s one of the best concert I've ever attended.

Viva TOTO !!!
